
William Oliver Edwards was born on 27 September 1905 at Paterson to Oliver Edwards and Mary Ann Parish. William married Victoria Pauline Shiels on 2 October 1935 and they had 2 children at the time of his enlisting.
Prior to enlisting in the AIF, William had served full time with the CMF from 30 January 1942 to 16 November 1942 where he was attached to the 20 Australian Garrison Battalion.
William enlisted in the AIF on 17 November 1942 at Mount George and was aged 37 years stating his wife Victoria Pauline Edwards as his next of kin and his occupation as dairy farmer. He was immediately transferred to 2/2 Aust HQ Guard Battalion. He served in both New South Wales and Queensland.
William was awarded the War Medal 1939/45 and the Australia Service Medal 1939/45 and General Service Badge.
When William was discharged in Brisbane on 4 December 1944 he was posted to 2/2 HQ Guard Battalion.
William died in 1985 at Muswellbrook aged 75 and is buried in Denman.
