Ulric Bowen Bridge was born on 11 May 1915 at Gloucester to Bowen Bridge and Amy Mabel Isabella Nash.
Ulric enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on the 11 March 1941 at Upper Lansdowne and listed his father Bowen Bridge of Upper Lansdowne as his next of kin and his occupation as labourer.
As soon as he enlisted he was marched out to 9 Pioneer Training Battalion Dubbo. From 1 September 1941 to 11 March 1942 he was deployed to the Middle East. Then from 10 August 1942 to 23 October 1943 he was deployed to New Guinea.
On 26 July 1944 Ulric married Ida Jean Evans at Canterbury and on 12 July 1945 his daughter was born.
Ulric received the 1939/45 Star, the Pacific Star, The Defence Medal, the War Medal 1939/45 and the Australia Service Medal 1939/45.
At the time of discharge on 31 October 1945, he was posted to 2/1 Australian Pioneer Battalion.
Ulric died on 5 December 1992 aged 77 and is buried at Innes Gardens Memorial Park, Port Macquarie.
Ulric’s 2 brothers Bruce and Ernest also served during WW2.
