Reginald John Minett was born at Taree on 16 April 1924 to John Cassie Minett and Ruby Pearl Potts.
Prior to enlisting, Reginald had attended Central Lansdowne School and completed a Farm Mechanics Correspondence Course in 1940.
Reginald enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on the 17 July 1942 at Taree aged 18 and listed his father John Cassie Minett as his next of kin and his occupation as farm hand. He was originally posted to Trainee Group V. Reginald became an instrument repairer and instrument maker whilst in the RAAF. In 1942 while stationed in Adelaide he attended No 4 School of Technical Training and successfully completed Trainee Group II Fitter course. In 1943 he attended 54 Instrument Repairs course for 16 weeks and also attended No 60 Instrument Makers course in 1944 in Melbourne for 29 weeks which he passed.
At the time of discharge on 30 April 1946, he was posted to 6 Aircraft Depot.
Reginald became a mechanic and worked for a number of years at Hawkins at Wingham. He and his family moved to Port Macquarie about 60 years ago and he then worked for Ford in Port Macquarie.

Reginald married Gwen Turner at Wingham in 1949 and they had 3 children. Reg died on 7 August 2013 and is buried at the Innes Memorial Gardens, Port Macquarie.
