Kenneth Stephen Phillips was born at Gloucester on 6 January 1910 to Alfred Stephen Phillips and Ethel Marian Pollard. Kenneth married Margaret Ann Macleay Clinch at Taree in 1936.
He was 32 years and 6 months when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force at Upper Lansdowne on 22 July 1942. He named his wife Margaret Phillips as his next of kin and his occupation as tractor driver. At the time of enlistment he was recruited as a Driver Motor Transport.
During his enlistment in the Royal Australian Air Force, Kenneth served in the South West Pacific area from 19 January 1944 to 31 March 1944 (New Guinea) and again from 12 January 1945 to 22 October 1945 (Morotai). He also served on Horn Island from 31 March 1944 to 1 July 1944.
Kenneth was awarded the 1939/45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal 1939/45, Australia Service Medal 1939/45 and Returned from Active Service Badge.
At the time of his discharge on 10 January 1946 he was posted to 61 Operational Base Unit.
Kenneth died in 1991 at Taree aged 81.
