History – WW2 Soldier John Cicolini NX157040

John Cicolini was born on 28 February 1922 at Upper Lansdowne to John Cicolini and Mary Elizabeth Payne.

When John enlisted in the CMF at Comboyne on the 29 January 1942 stating his father John Cicolini as his next of kin and his occupation as dairy farmer, he was posted to 103 Anti Tank Regiment.  On 20 November 1942 he was transferred to 228 Australian Light Anti Aircraft Battery.

John then enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on the 7 April 1943 in the Field, WA at 228 Australian Light Anti Aircraft Battery.  On 21 October 1943 he was transferred to Queensland for training.

John received the War Medal 1939/45 and the Australia Service Medal 1939/45.

At the time of discharge on 25 November 1944, he was posted to 228 Australian Light Anti Aircraft Battery.

John married Phyllis Aileen Hinton at Taree in 1945.  John died on 14 December 1991 aged 70 and is buried in the Dawson River Cemetery.
