History – WW2 Soldier Alec Eugene Bartlett NX168120

Alec Eugene Bartlett was born on 4 January 1919 at Taree to Hilton James Bartlett and Flora D Turner.

Alec served with the Citizen Military Forces (CMF) from 1 October 1941 to 24 January 1943.

On 25 January 1943, Alec enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) at Lansdowne aged 24 years stating his occupation as Lorry Driver and his next of kin as his father Hilton James Bartlett of Upper Lansdowne.

After enlistment he was posted to the 1st Australian Infantry Training Battalion.  On 23 April 1945 he embarked for Morotai in the Dutch East Indies returning to Australia in October 1945.

Alec was awarded the Pacific Star, War Medal 1939-45 and the Australia Service Medal 1939-45.

At the time of discharge on 3 December 1945, he was posted to 2/48 Australian Infantry Battalion.

Alec married Ruby Jean Dries in 1948 in the Manning area.  He died in 1980 at Taree aged 61.
