George Barr was born on 2 June 1899 at Ballymena, Ireland. George enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy at Taree on 23 February 1940 stating his wife Martha Barr of Upper Lansdowne as his next of kin.
After enlisting George was posted to Boom Defence Depot in Darwin. The ships George served on during his time in the Royal Australian Navy were Penguin V, Torrens and Rushcutter.
At the time of George’s discharge on 7 January 1949 he was posted to HMAS Rushcutter.
George died on 28 January 1965 at Taree aged 65.
