Dear Mrs Thompson, This email is a plea to reopen Koppin Yarratt Road, between Upper Lansdowne and Comboyne. This will benefit both Upper Lansdowne by providing another way out in emergencies, and Comboyne by allowing much quicker access to Taree. While Upper Lansdowne has two road exits both run in a southerly direction, and are quite close in places, and so vulnerable to the same fire. Our community has, on many occasions, been isolated from emergency assistance by flooding of both roads. Recent years have seen several bridges unusable for extended periods. Access to Koppin Yarratt Road was needed to contain the Rumba Dump Fire in 2019, and it was opened by the Forestry Corporation of NSW. Unfortunately it was closed again by a land slip shortly afterwards and has remained closed ever since. We are continually being warned that extreme fire, flood and storm events will become more frequent and intense over coming years, and so we are appealing to you to help safeguard our residents by working to have Koppin Yarratt Road re-opened as soon as possible. To send a paper letter copy the draft into an editor and send to the address below, but don't forget to add the date, and your full name and address and phone number.
