Percy Raymond Atkins was born in 1922 in Upper Lansdowne the 8th child of William and Lavinia Atkins of Mt Coxcomb.
Ray initially worked for the Potts family who also farmed at Mt Coxcomb. He enlisted in WW2 but didn’t go overseas as his family wouldn’t sign the papers. He then lived in Sydney where he married Jane Loveday McDermott in 1942. He worked in woollen mills, cold storage and a bus depot. Ray and Jane had two sons.
His brothers Charles Thomas, Gilbert and Peter James also served in WW2.
