
Leslie Bruce Minett was born in 1922 at Taree to Edgar Ernest Minett and Susan Miller.
Leslie enlisted in the Australian Army on 22 July 1940 at Taree stating his age as 20 years 6 months. He listed his father Edgar Ernest Minett as his next of kin and his occupation as labourer. He was originally posted to 4th Battalion at Newcastle.
On 4 January 1941 Leslie married Iris Bremer Kamp. On 19 February 1941 he was transferred to ECMG Training Coy at Dubbo.
On 27 June 1941 he sailed out of Sydney arriving in the Middle East on 31 July 1941. He remained there until 25 January 1943 arriving back in Sydney on 27 February 1943.
On 1 May 1943 he was transferred to Queensland. He remained in Australia and was assessed in October 1943 as being medically unfit for military service by the Medical Board.
At the time of discharge on 28 November 1943 he was posted to 2/2 Machine Gun Battalion.
Leslie married Dawn Munro at Grafton in 1957. Leslie died on 6 May 2003 in Tugan Queensland aged 81.
